Imagine IC and Modemuze joined forces last year – together they investigated the (in)tangible heritage of the koto in the Dutch context. At the request, Cheyenne Nelson (Studio NENE) made a canvas: a collection of knowledge transfer, but can also be worn as an angisa.

Kotomisi ‘Kon na wan’ (2019), the winning costume of an ‘open call’ to design a modern kotomisi for the exhibition ‘Kotomisi, the power of national costume’ inspired by the kotomisi displaying codes and symbols of the past.

This angisa was released by Tailors & Wearers in 2022. It shares elements of how history persists in the present, and commemorates what should not be forgotten in Rotterdam at that moment.
